As a student who is still studying, Being able to publish a paper in the form of a book is a matter of pride. But in the present, Plagiarism is rife among academics. Many people want to spawn a work, but no longer original to their personal property. As a writer or someone who has been able to produce a work, This is certainly a threat. There needs to be legal protection to protect works that have been published. One way that can be done to protect a written work is with an ISBN (International Standard Book Number) or unique identification for the commercialized book. This effort has been made by Dadan Adi Kurniawan, S.Pd., M.Pd., one of the lecturers in the UNS History Education Study Program in the Cutting-edge World History course in the Even Semester of February-July 2023 (for semester 6/batch 2020).

In the Cutting-Edge World History course, He designed lectures with Project Based Learning (Team Based Project). Students in groups are directed to compile an article which is then compiled and orbited into an ISBN book (Flower Potpourri - Collection of Writings). In writing this book, students go through several stages. First stage, Students in groups compile articles according to the theme that has been given by the lecturer. Second stage, Each student group must present the progress of the article. After the presentation, Each group received criticism and input from lecturers as well as students from other groups. Input includes technical and substance matters such as writing a bibliography, How to Quote, Use of capital letters, Variety and credibility of the source and focus of the substance of the article itself. Third stage, Students make revisions based on existing inputs. Fourth stage, Students again submit articles to be cross-checked by the teaching lecturer. If there are still shortcomings, Lecturer asks students to revise again. After the articles from all groups are collected all, Dadan Adi Kurniawan as a lecturer plays the role of an editor who is in charge of editing and compiling existing articles and providing a foreword and synopsis for the back cover. After that, Dadan took care of the draft of the book Cutting-Edge World History to the publication of the book for further processing related to the making of the cover, layout and ISBN registration to the National Library in Jakarta.

In addition to the Cutting-Edge World History course, This project with ISBN books is also practiced in the History KKL course (History Field Work Lecture) which was also obtained by UNS History Education students in semester 6/batch 2020. The History KKL is carried out in May 2023 by conducting study visits to historical places with the Semarang-Demak-Kudus-Jakarta-Bandung route. The details of the destinations are as follows:

  1. Gedong Songo Temple Complex
  2. Central Java Provincial Archives and Library Service
  3. Great Mosque of Demak
  4. Menara Kudus Mosque and Sunan Kudus Tomb
  5. Youth Pledge Museum
  6. National Awakening Museum
  7. Proclamation Text Formulation Museum
  8. Joang Building 45
  9. Old Town Tourist Attractions
  10. National Museum (Museum Gadjah)
  11. National Monument
  12. Asian-African Conference Museum
  13. Farmhouse Lembang Bandung
  14. The Great Asia-Africa Bandung

Of these many destinations, exist 3 a place that is a tourist attraction, namely Kota Tua, Farmhouse Lembang Bandung and The Great Asia-Africa Bandung so they were not included in the book discussion. A little different from the eyes of the Cutting-edge World History, in this History KKL book project before departing for KKL, Students in groups first prepare the design of the book that they will compile by collecting data from the book, journal, Scientific Articles, and others then present it. This temporary writing received input from lecturers and other student groups. So that before the KKL, students have completed 50% from their articles. Rest (50%) equipped when students carry out KKL in the field, namely by collecting additional data and doing crosschek whether what they have written is appropriate or not. After returning from the MPA, Students are in charge of completing their articles and making presentations again which are then revised and refined. Just like the Cutting-edge World History course, Lecturers act as editors who are in charge of uniting and editing books before finally entering book publishing for further processing.

The creation of this book is very beneficial for students, In addition to gaining new knowledge, Students also get new experiences on how to make a book. The books they have written can also be used as mementos and reminders that when they were in college, Students can produce a published joint work.
